Canceling the 2020 Annual Rhythm on Ice Concert – And What We’re Doing Instead

Plans for the 2020 Rhythm on Ice concert began early this year, and we are disappointed to announce that due to COVID-19, we have decided to officially cancel. We believe it is in the best interest of those participating and that of the audience to cancel the concert.

Initially, in March, we thought that it would be possible to simply postpone the concert. But due to the climbing growth rate and fears that a large gathering of our concert may be a possible method of transmission, we think it’s best to cancel the show for now. For kids with disabilities, secondary conditions that may cause weaker immune functioning are common. We want to stay safe and make sure that nobody is at risk or in danger because of a concert that should be helping them!

Fortunately, we are hoping to launch a new initiative soon. It will be completely virtual, so nobody has to worry about possible transmission of the virus. Nonetheless, it will help us serve the community as well as we can, so that even in times like this, we can help others.

The project will be focused on providing music to those in nursing homes. Because coronavirus is causing visits to these homes to dwindle, many residents are feeling lonely. We think music may be able to help. So, we will be bringing people together – virtually – to record videos of themselves playing music and spreading messages of comfort.

We’ll update on this new project soon! For now, remember that safety comes first. Stay home, maintain proper hygiene, and follow proper CDC guidelines.
