Does Music Help With Studying?
By Malak Ettahali
For many students, these recent weeks have been jam packed full with final exams. And sometimes, it can be difficult to stay concentrated with the amount of stuff going on. Thankfully, there are a multitude of things students can do to stay focused, including listening to music!
But, make sure to be careful with what you listen to – your music choice can help or hurt you!
While listening to music can be a way to distract students from their studies, it’s also been proven that listening can help with productivity while studying, and help students relieve tension while doing so depending on the music being listened to. For example, listening to a really catchy song while reviewing for your history final would be much more distracting than listening to a classical song, right? Music can also help improve brain functioning, and keep you performing better on tests, and getting the most out of your study time.
The main reason that music helps with study habits is because of its ability to lift moods! Studying is more effective and productive while in a happy mood, and music can also help with achieving that.
Music choice can also negatively impact you. Using a song with distracting lyrics or one of your favorite songs can impact how well you study. Music that also promotes strong feelings or has emotional significance to you also can inhibit your learning.
So now you know that music can be a useful resource while studying! What type of music helps you to study?
